Ralph Berg

In his role as Executive Vice President and Global Head of Infrastructure, Ralph leads the OMERS Infrastructure team on a global basis.

Since joining OMERS in February 2013, he has been a key member of the Infrastructure investment team, playing a leadership role in investment origination, acquisition and asset management including with Caruna, Ellevio and Net4Gas.

Prior to joining OMERS Infrastructure, Ralph was a Managing Director and the Head of the European Energy & Power Team at Credit Suisse, where he spent seven years advising clients in M&A, IPO and structured finance transactions. Before that, he worked in the Energy team at Deutsche Bank in New York and London for almost 12 years. He has transaction and advisory experience on infrastructure investments as diverse as power generation, transmission, distribution, oil and gas exploration, production, transport, refining and distribution, as well as water and waste.

Ralph holds a Law Degree from the Universidad de Buenos Aires.

Mark Redman

Mark joined OMERS Private Equity - which manages C$10bn of Canadian pension fund OMERS’ C$85bn of net assets - as Head of Europe in 2009. Since establishing the London office, Mark led the development of a direct investment capacity for Private Equity in Europe; successfully completing six transactions including V.Group ($520m), Lifeways (£207m), Civica (£390m), Vue (£1bn) and ERM ($1.7bn).  Mark is currently a board member of V. Group (ship management), ERM (environmental consultancy) and Vue (cinema operator).  In 2015, Mark took on the role of Global Head of Private Equity for OMERS.

Before OMERS, Mark spent more than 12 years at FTSE-100 private equity firm 3i. Following 4 years in Watford and London, he spent 7 years helping develop 3i's new Amsterdam office, subsequently developing 3i’s market entry strategy for Turkey.  Prior to this, Mark worked at Grant Thornton in London for seven years.

Mark is also Chairman of LCO, the UK’s oldest professional chamber orchestra, whose patron is Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.  He is also a member of the Investment Committee of St Anne’s College, Oxford University.

Mark has an MA in Modern History from St Anne’s College, Oxford University and is an ACA Chartered Accountant.

John Knowlton

John is currently Senior Managing Director & Business Manager. In this role, he is responsible for leading a number of strategic initiatives that will advance the global Infrastructure agenda. John started at OMERS Infrastructure in 2005.

John is active with several investments and is, or has been, on the board of numerous investments, including LifeLabs, DynaLife and Teranet. Prior to this, John was senior legal counsel at Bombardier Transportation, where he advised on the pursuit of new transit projects around the globe, including Greece, South Korea, the U.K., Canada and the U.S. John began his career at Torys LLP.

John holds an Honours BA (Economics) from University of Western Ontario, and an MBA and LL.B. from University of Ottawa.

Managing Director, Investment Risk Management, Toronto
Paul Calder

Paul currently serves as Managing Director, Investment Risk Management. In this role, he is responsible for providing direction and leadership to both OMERS Infrastructure and OMERS Private Equity in the ongoing development of a leading investment risk-management program to reduce volatility, actively manage portfolio and transaction-pursuit risk, and support the evolution of infrastructure investment strategies. Paul's asset management experience includes: Associated British Ports, DynaLIFE and Teranet.

Paul previously spent 10 years with Standard & Poor's in its infrastructure group, evaluating toll facilities, ports, airports, P3 projects, general transportation assets and public finance.

Paul has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Bishop’s University. He is a CFA® charterholder, and he has also obtained his Chartered Director (C. Dir.) designation.

Arlette Edmunds

Vice President, Human Resources, Toronto
Arlette Edmunds

Arlette is Vice President, Human Resources with OMERS Private Markets and, in that capacity, she leads the Human Resources function for both OMERS Infrastructure and OMERS Private Equity across global offices in Toronto, New York, London and Sydney.

Prior to joining in 2013, Arlette was a successful entrepreneur, creating an online retailer of children’s clothing and accessories. Before that, Arlette spent more than 15 years in human resources in the financial industry, where she worked with management teams at TD Securities in capital markets, including leading the Employee Experience globally, at Merrill Lynch, working in wealth management, and consulting for Deloitte in Financial Advisory Services. 

Arlette studied business administration at Seneca College in Toronto, and has her post-diploma in Human Resources. She is a Certified Human Resources Professional and a Certified Human Resources Leader.

Kelly Marshall
Executive Vice President, Strategic Partnerships, Toronto

Kelly is currently Executive Vice President, Strategic Partnerships with OMERS Private Markets. Having joined the team in November 2017, Kelly has enterprise accountability for driving the growth of OMERS strategic partnerships, including relationships within third party capital arrangements, and with co-investors and other finance partners. He is a deeply experienced global investor in infrastructure, private equity and real estate, across both emerging and developed economies.

Prior to OMERS, Kelly served as Managing Partner for Corporate Finance with Brookfield Asset Management.  During his 16 years there, he executed numerous equity, preferred equity, public debt and project debt transactions. Before this, he held positions with firms such as Citibank, Lone Star and Fortress Investment Group.

Kelly has an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Shelagh Paul
Vice President, Investment Communications, Toronto

Shelagh is the Vice President, Investment Communications at OMERS Private Markets, having joined the team in July 2017. In this role, Shelagh is responsible for the development and implementation of internal and external communications and media relations strategies related to the world-wide Private Markets investment program, across both the Infrastructure and Private Equity portfolios. Shelagh is also a strategic partner to OMERS Capital Markets and to the broader OMERS enterprise, where her work includes leading the Singapore communications strategy.

Prior to joining OMERS Private Markets, Shelagh worked for 21 years in the Canadian property and casualty insurance industry at both The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company and Travelers Canada. Most recently, she served as Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Communications, and was accountable for leading, developing and executing marketing strategies, broker communications as well as internal communications initiatives for all facets of the corporate and business unit strategies. She also held roles in Operational Planning and Corporate Projects, Business Development and Business Performance, Sales and Marketing.

Shelagh completed a B.Sc., Environmental Science and Resource Management and a M.Sc., Urban Planning, both from the University of Toronto. She also holds a Masters Certificate in Marketing Communications from the Schulich School of Business.
