Working here means working for one of the most respected and experienced investors in the infrastructure sector. There is a certain amount of pride you take when you hand someone that business card – and a certain amount of respect that is received – that can’t be duplicated at too many other firms. You do your part every day to make sure that that reputation is maintained, or expanded upon.

My Story:

I started in early 2012 when Infrastructure added a team to the existing New York City office. In the years since, I have been involved in growing our presence in the US and Latin American markets, as well as expanding our team in New York City. Prior to joining, my career has been a combination of engineering and investment banking – both in the traditional infrastructure transport sectors and in the energy sectors – which has allowed me the flexibility to adapt to the various trends and investment opportunities.

I enjoy working at Private Equity, as it represents one of the few investment teams focused on a direct PE investment strategy at a large pension plan.

My Story:

I joined in 2012 as a Director in the Private Equity team in Europe, based in London. My role is varied and interesting, as the work is different from one day to another. An important part of my role is to originate and execute private equity transactions, mainly in the UK and France, taking a majority control equity investment in privately-owned companies. We look at backing strong management teams in their next phase of growth, providing them with financial support and stability. Once a private equity investment is made in a company, another important part of my role includes the active portfolio management of this asset, supporting the management team in growing the company into its next phase of growth. I attend monthly board meetings, and I am also in direct contact with management teams outside the boards, supporting them through, for example, bolt-ons or refinancings.

What I love most about working at Private Equity is the individual growth opportunity. Every year we are challenged to compete against – and outperform – the leading private equity firms in North American and Europe.

My Story:

I was fortunate to join Private Equity in 2007, shortly after the direct investment program was founded. Its been an incredible growth trajectory since, as we’ve grown from a small Toronto team, with mostly fund investments, into a proven global private equity investor with over 15 portfolio companies and an excellent track record of realized returns. Since joining Private Equity as an Associate, I have been provided with many growth opportunities to further my career. In my role,  I am responsible for North American healthcare and business services investments. I currently sit on the Board of a number of OMERS’ investments, including Caliber Collision, CBI Health Group and Forefront Dermatology.

What I love most about working at OMERS Infrastructure is being part of a team of diverse, high performing individuals who are all very results-oriented – but at the same time very down-to-earth. I chalk it up to the fact that all of us were drawn to work for a pension plan, where we have the chance to work on great deals in pursuit of a greater good.

My Story:

I joined in 2012. I was attracted to the fact that lawyers here are included as part of the transaction team, and that our perspectives and backgrounds are valued in both the pursuit of new investments as well as the management of existing assets. In my case, I spent my early career at a leading law firm, followed by a number of years at a large power generation company where I held a variety of legal and non-legal roles. This experience has proven relevant to a number of investment opportunities, and at the same time I have had the chance to work in areas that were totally new to me, either a new type of asset or a new geography. I have also had the opportunity to sit on a board of one of our investments. I feel very fortunate to have such a steady stream of opportunities to learn and grow professionally, and to do so with such a talented and committed group of colleagues.

The culture here is fantastic – and I have worked at, and with, many organizations. It is rare to find so much talent and ambition coupled with great team work. It is genuinely an organization where an individual at whatever level can make a difference.

My Story:

I started in the middle of 2015. I joined the OMERS Infrastructure team to help develop our approach to asset management – working with the businesses we have invested in to develop strategies and business plans, to improve their customer focus, safety, operational processes and improve how risks are managed. Our goal is to create sustained long term value from our investments.

I greatly enjoy working with the team; I have been made to feel very welcome.  It is also a very diverse yet very united team, and that makes for a very stimulating environment in which to develop.

My favorite part about working at Private Equity is that the team here has consistently challenged me to grow professionally, and provided me the opportunities to develop my skill set. On a daily basis, I have a growing role and increasing responsibilities to help deliver secure and sustainable pensions to our members.

My Story:

I joined Private Equity in 2015 as an Associate with the New York private equity team. I play an active role in new deal pursuits and add-on acquisitions, as well as monitoring our portfolio companies. Previously, I was an investment banking analyst in the Services & Industrials group at William Blair & Company, where I worked on a number of M&A and financing transactions across various business services and industrials sub sectors. In my current role at Private Equity, my responsibilities include Marketwired (exited in February 2016) and The Kenan Advantage Group. After stepping into my role, I was immediately welcomed as part of the team. I am proud of how I have grown within the OPM community, and look forward to what my future holds as a member of the team.

What I love most about working at OMERS Infrastructure is its both solid and diverse team, where growth and learning are at the forefront.

My Story:

I started over a year ago as an Associate in the infrastructure investment team. I joined from a large American investment bank in London and was previously studying in France. As I was starting my new role, I was surprised by the ease and fluidity of teamwork within the infrastructure team globally, and also more broadly within OPM; in particular, given the large diversity of background and cultures. As a new joiner, I received all the support from the team to adapt to my new position and learn. This support did not stop there as every day I keep learning from my job and from my team.

I was also lucky to be part of the thrilling growth of the past few years of our European portfolio, and consequently of the OPM team, having participated in several transactions – and being also very involved in managing our assets.
